PTE Mission
PTE Outdoor Adventures is a full service company that
utilizes challenging outdoor activities such as rock
climbing, hiking, camping, caving, backpacking, trail
running, and kayaking in order to teach important
leadership and team building principles to a variety of
organizational groups. As guides and instructors we are
dedicated professionals with many years of experience in
all of the outdoor adventure activities offered. As
managers, we also have a keen understanding of and
experience in the realms of business, sports, ministry,
and education. PTE uses state of the art equipment and
maintains the highest standards of safety. We listen to
each team, business, or organization we work with in order
to better understand their vision, goals, time restraints,
as well as the leadership/team building principles they
wish to prioritize. Together we develop specific and
realistic goals for their group which can be measured at
the end of the program through questionnaires and written
evaluations given to participants as well as a thorough
debriefing session. We then plan a unique and challenging
outdoor adventure program that best helps us to accomplish
these goals. On an individual level the programs are
enlightening. For the groups that participate in them,
they're the foundation for a cohesive team environment and
long-term goal accomplishment.
Making us truly unique Past The Edge, as our name
signifies, can provide programs that intentionally place
groups outside their comfort zone and even challenges them
past their individual capabilities in order to teach them
how to succeed as a team when faced with seemingly
insurmountable tasks. This type of program may represent
the most realistic scenario for success in life and
offering such real challenge programs differentiates us
from many of our competitors.
Overcoming obstacles together. Thinking "Past The Edge" of
normalcy. Using resources effectively. PTE trains
participants thoroughly and then puts them in charge of
different portions of the program, allowing them to
practice on their own what they have learned under the
watchful eyes of experienced instructors. Together,
instructors and participants work to build a number of
powerful learning experiences that will help each of them
to remember the principle(s) related to that experience.
The PTE learning process encourages participants to
develop their own goals and work together to achieve them.
PTE History
PTE Outdoor Adventures evolved from two separate entities
operated by father and son for the last several years. The
father, Bob Adams, has for the past seven years operated a
successful portable rock climbing business by the name of
Adam's Rock Climbing while also working as the Director of
Training with the Challenge Rock Climbing School of
Atlanta, Georgia. The rock climbing wall was built in 2000
as a proto-type for Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It
not only looks like a real rock, but also has the feel of
a 35 foot cliff wall. The son, Rob Adams, has lived
overseas in both Indonesia and Malaysia for the past six
years where he has successfully started cultural exchange
and outdoor adventure leadership programs in both
countries. In Malaysia the program has involved three
different universities including the largest university
system in the country as well as several leading American
universities such as Florida State and The University of
Kentucky.
Bringing the success of the outdoor leadership program
created overseas by the son together with the successful
rock climbing business of the father has birthed Past The
Edge Outdoor Adventures. This has allowed the tested
leadership tools of one outdoor program to be combined
with the experience and excellent record of another
outdoor program as well as the capability to actually
bring the rock to our clients.
PTE Advantage
PTE has a competitive edge by being one of the very
few companies in the entire U.S. to provide programs that
focus on teaching tested leadership and team building
principles through challenging natural outdoor
activities. This type of program is different from most
outdoor leadership companies who utilize man-made
structures or outdoor games as their primary teaching
tools. Other outdoor leadership companies teach primarily
wilderness survival or orienteering that leads to some
leadership and team building development whereas PTE very
intentionally teaches selected leadership and team
building principles which can be used in everyday
situations. Many outdoor leadership organizations only
offer such programs within an 8+ day format, whereas PTE
offers a variety of 2-7 day programs to match the time
constraints of most of todays student groups and
corporate entities. Making us truly unique, Past The Edge,
as our name signifies, can provide programs that
intentionally place groups outside their comfort zone and
even challenges them past their individual capabilities in
order to teach them how to succeed as a team when faced
with seemingly insurmountable tasks. This type of program
may represent the most realistic scenario for success in
life and offering such real challenge programs
differentiates us from many of our competitors. Finally
we offer our programs at a more affordable price than
most other outdoor leadership companies in the U.S.
Most good training outsourcing companies with
leadership/team building programs do teach solid
leadership and team building principles, but do so mostly
in a classroom setting with few chances for experiential
learning. PTE not only increases memorization of
principles through challenging experiential learning, but
does so with unique and exciting outdoor activities that
by themselves are not soon to be forgotten.
Bob Adams has worked as the owner and primary operator of
the small proprietorship Adams Rock Climbing for the past
six years. He has made this small endeavor profitable and
developed a number of strategic partnerships with outdoor
recreation companies. Each year for the past six years he
has also traveled to Indonesia and Malaysia to help start
community and university led outdoor adventure projects
along with his son, Robert Adams. Prior to this Mr. Adams
worked as the Director of Training with the Challenge Rock
Climbing School of Atlanta where he helped to improve the
overall profit margin of the only such school in Georgia.
Also Mr. Adams previously owned and operated his own truck
driving business for an overall period of 8 years. He is
an official member of the American Mountain Guides
Association. He was officially certified as a rock
climbing instructor and guide by the Challenge Rock
Climbing School over 10 years ago. He is also certified by
the Red Cross as an instructor of First Aid and CPR while
also receiving Red Cross certification in Wilderness First
Aid.
Mr. Robert Adams
Director of Operations
Mr. Robert Adams has lived overseas in both Indonesia and

State and The University of Kentucky. Mr. Adams co-hosted
a 13 episode outdoor adventure show in Malaysia in 2006
and conducts speaking tours to several large universities
and youth events throughout the U.S. each year. Prior to
moving overseas in 1999 Robert worked as a financial
analyst for the chief executives team at Rollins Inc.
out of Atlanta, GA. There he helped to implement and
record many new sales and compensation initiatives which
increased the overall sales revenue and profit margin of
Rollins segments such as Orkin Pest Control. Prior to
joining Rollins, he worked as a store manager for the
grocery chain of Sav-A-Lot where he helped to increase the
profit margin by 10% through improved store operations and
marketing.

We also bring the rock to you, your company, or event!
